Hindi, being the national language of the country, there are some great stories that form a part of the rich Hindi literature. Hindi stories are told in most Indian households.

In India, especially the classics are mostly based on Gods and Goddesses that have been passed down orally from one generation to another. Some of the classical Hindi stories include incidents from the epics like Mahabharata and the Ramayana, stories on lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati and Maa Durga, Hanuman, Ram etc.

Some of the famous Stories that he has written are Nashaa, Poos ki raat, Atmaram, Shatranj ke Khiladi, Boodhi Kaki, Bade Bhaisahab, Kafan, Bade Ghar ki beti, Udhar ki Ghadi, Dikri ke Rupai, Namak ka Daroga, etc.

Hindi novels namely; Balachnama, Rati Nath ki Chachi, Nai Paudh, Varun ke bete, Ugratara, Kumbhi Pak by the great writer Nagarjuna are also considered to be epics in Hindi literature. Mahadevi Verma is also a well known name in the world of Hindi Literature. Some of her prose works are Ateet ke chalchitra, Shrinkhla ki kadiya, Kshanda, Sankalpita, Smriti ki Rekhayen, Mera Parivar, Sambhashan, Sahityakaar ki Asatha, Path ke Sathi etc.

Hindi short stories are also narrated to children as a part of their growing up and learning. There are many books that are available in the market that offer famous Hindi stories collection.

There are a lot of Hindi stories based on famous personalities and leaders in the country. For example, stories of freedom fighters such as Rabindranath Tagore, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose etc form a good collection of short stories for children. It also helps them to get well versed with Hindi language apart from making for a good reading.
