A persuasive speech
must be one in which ideas and opinions are put forth in such a
way as to convince the audience of something or to sway the
opinion of the audience. Good persuasive speech topics may take
some time to come up with as they are those that have been
decided upon after a great deal of thought and such topics must
be backed up by accurately researched content.
Simply having a
wealth of information on an issue is not enough to make a good
persuasive speech. To be able to convince an audience
effectively, persuasive speech ideas must be presented with a
degree of force and the speaker must be able to use his
personality to get the audience to see his or her point.

How to make an impact with
words
The first thing to do is to list topics for a persuasive speech. Next,
conduct sufficient research to ensure you have all the necessary facts
and information. Try and include new ideas or unknown facts about the
topic in your speech and if possible use a humourous anecdote to keep
the tone light. Concentrate on making a powerful closing statement and
one that motivates people to act as this makes a powerful impression.
How to choose topics for persuasive speech
To choose a good topic that you would be able to write a persuasive
speech on, opt foir a subject that you feel very strongly about. Your
subject should be something that you have well-defined opinions on and
something that you already know about but have a genuine interest in
learning more about. But it should also be a subject your audience would
find interesting. Try choosing a style that matches the speaker. For
instance, if one has a flair for humour, one could opt for funny
persuasive speech topics.
Funny topics for a persuasive speech would have lighter, less serious
content. You could choose topics like, ‘How to beat the cost of living,’
or ‘How to look like you know what you are talking about’. Humour, it
should be remembered can and ideally should be a part of any speech. As
such, even corporate speeches can include the element of humour. A funny
persuasive speech for off-goers could be something titled, ‘How to get
your boss to love you more than his son,’ or ‘How to make the customer
think he’s right’. Through such speeches one would find it easy to keep
their co-workers’ attention without making it seem like drudgery. At the
same time, the speaker gets a chance to include some serious tips for
their co-workers.
Of all the genres of speech, persuasive speech is the one that takes the
most thought and planning. It is a true test of a speechwriter’s skills
as such a speech must be interesting, while at the same time informative
and accurate. It must also be aggressive, yet the speaker must come
across as unthreatening, and the actual words of the speech must appear
to implore the members of the audience to act, not order them to.
