The skills to survive in a corporate world seem several. Most skills are present within us and others we learn not consciously while handling managerial aspects. Circumstances teach us to learn new skills. The best way to learn is to read and observe. Peers are mentors who let us follow the style laid by them but our own individuality is transformed when we put the ability into use. Soft skills are vital for presentation and implementation.

Interpersonal skills are the most important quality right from the selection process to receiving promotions. Communication has opened avenues to many opportunities which a person would otherwise miss in a case he is reclusive. It is important to strike a balance while conversing to maintain a distinct formality and yet again lend a compassionate leadership quality.

Technical skills are also a part of soft skills. The basic applications or the internal technical software has to be learnt for all purposes. It is fine to ask a junior to help out or begin the learning process by spending a few extra hours in the office. But the bottom line is to master the aspects of information technology in order to be self reliant. Maintaining a self motivated attitude helps us not only to learn new things but also suggest new inclusions.

Telephone etiquettes are important for business. This means having a good command on English, avoiding a casual tone and also learning to respect the time of the other person. It is important to adhere to business etiquettes as beeps and phone calls can be very interrupting to the people at the meeting. This could also signal to others that you are distracted and have less interest in their project. Avoiding distractions and staying focused is also a managerial skill.

Organizing and helping others stay organized is the best soft skill in the corporate culture. Though work operations or administrations are departmentalized it is important to understand that all departments work in sync with support and systems. Hence it is important to keep the work organized for team mates and colleagues to avoid delays. Motivation is the best way to get things done. Instead of looking for support or the push, it can be understood the self motivation is a unique soft skill.

Behavioral skills, stress management, conversation, writing skills and negotiation skills are also a part of the soft skills structure.
