A resume literally means a summary of technical skills. Identify yourself as a solution to someone's problem and remember to present all your skills in about 1 minute flat of reading time which is how long a recruiter will spend to read your details. Be clear, avoid overload and be focused in your approach. You need to sell yourself to an employer quickly and efficiently. Address your potential employer's needs with a clearly written, compelling resume. Try and get to know the company where you are applying for the job. The more you know about the duties and skills required for the job, (and organize your resume around these points) the more effective the resume. The more you know about the employer and the position, the more you can tailor your sample resumes to fit the job. Avoid large paragraphs (over six or seven lines). If you provide small, digestible pieces of information you stand a better chance of having your resume actually read Use action verbs such as "developed," "managed," and "designed" to emphasize your accomplishments. Don't use declarative sentences like "I developed the..." or "I assisted in..."; leave out the "I." Avoid passive words such as "was responsible for managing." It's not only more efficient to say "Managed," it's stronger and more active. Avoid personal summaries which are generally a waste of space. Information about your height, weight, marital status, race religion etc are irrelevant and need not be included, unless specifically required by an employer. Don't include too many hobbies & interest as it will look you have no time for work. But do describe your personality and attitude. More important to the employer is what you have achieved while you worked there. New articles:
