Until almost ten
years ago, university education in India was still in its
nascent stage, finding a way to lure increasing number of
students. This is mainly because the choice given to students
were limited and youngsters felt they were better of seeking
jobs or setting up their own business than waste time attending
lectures. And those interested in further education simply went
abroad. However, things have been changing and there have been
developmental visible changes in the university education of the
nation.
So, apart from Pune and a few other cities that were considered
as the educational potboilers of India, new universities are
being set up in almost every part of the country. |
The subject choices are more, with more
attention given to specialization. Apart from that the domestic
universities are also tying up with the international ones, thereby
encouraging students to continue with their education here, rather than
go abroad. This is being considered as an important means of reversing
the brain drain situation we have been facing.
Thus, universities in India are open to all kinds of progressive
changes. However, there are certain pockets where the age-old system of
teaching; and student politics still prevail. This is mainly in states
such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, in other parts there is a
clean and academic atmosphere with lots of fun and serious extra
curricular activities. Interestingly, another positive trend is the
increasing number of online universities in India, which are encouraging
established professionals to further their qualifications.
Today, there are some top MBA universities in India that have earned her
global renown in this area. Apart from the domestic big names, there are
international business schools also set up that award the students with
their degrees after completion of the course. And students picked up
from such universities are amongst the highest paid. But then, all said
and done attending foreign universities generally boosts one’s career
graph as soon as one enrolls for the courses offered by them.
However, one needs to also be careful as there have been instances of
people setting up so-called international business schools and then
after collecting the fees, shutting shopping and fleeing, not to be
traced. Thus, one needs to be sure about the credentials and actual
nature of tie up so as not to be misled.
A vast majority of universities offering MA education in India have
revamped their infrastructure and are also offering more variety where
subjects are concerned. In fact, even their distance education option
has been attracting more and more people back to the books in order to
earn a degree.
