While India proudly
holds the status of being one of the largest democracies of the
world, housing a major diversity where culture is concerned; yet
in this there is a grave matter of concern that the Government
is looking into, but cannot seem to find an appropriate solution
– the population explosion.
This needs to be brought under control, but unfortunately every
measure taken towards this seems to be hitting against a brick
wall.
The
population of
India is rampantly increasing each year with lowering of the
mortality rate and increasing in the birth rate. The country is
almost bursting at its seams. |
What is the population of the India?
According to the estimates provided by a CIA research, India’s
population is estimated to be 1,129,866,154, in July 2007. This is a
huge jump from the 2006 count being 1,095,351,995. According to the
present population growth rate, the country is heading towards exceeding
China’s population count by 2030. And the fact is that the country does
not have the capacity in any avenue to support such increases in people
per year.
There are experts studying the over population effect on India & lack of
education. Fact remains that they both co-exist. The only way in which
the population can be brought under control is by educating them. But
who can accomplish such a gigantic task?
It is the responsibility of every educated person in the country to
reach out to the illiterate who do not give birth to babies, but breed
them for their own survival. Look at them in the slums and on the
streets – children are born to be a source of livelihood for them, so
they keep producing.
A known global fact is that over 65% of the population in India exists
below the poverty level. They are the ones who breed diseases and crime,
amongst other evils of society. Illiteracy and unemployment amongst this
section of the population is causing far too many problems. And one dark
truth is that as much as a section of the Government is working towards
bringing a brake to the problem, a majority of the politicians are
feeding the poverty-stricken, as they form the vote banks.
Today there is a necessity to begin a crusade against the rampant
population India growth. Every citizen needs to realize their respective
responsibility to curb the malice that has overtaken one the greatest
countries of the world. As an optimist would say: ‘Its never too late to
turn things around’. And so now is the right time to begin to control
what is out of control...
