India restaurant

Food is one of the distinct aspects of a nation’s culture and in a country like India, the number of cuisines here is numerous and different in taste. It is interesting how each and every community of the Indian Sub-Continent have a variety of dishes to offer – appetizers, main course and dessert, along with yummy in between snacks. And this very aspect has provided the opportunity to so many to earn from the restaurant business.

Today, in the urban areas across the country there are a large number of restaurants and hotels. In fact, put together they all form the hospitality industry, which is one of the largest where the Indian economy is concerned.

The Indian restaurants in India are not just a delight for the tourists, but also the natives of the country. ..

This is because apart from their own community restaurant there are other specialty ones serving food from various parts of the country. For instance, there are the Mughlai Indian eating places that serve typical north Indian food; the South Indian Udipi joints offer a range of south Indian delicacies, Kashmiri restaurants, Konkani restaurants, are just a few to name here.

Apart from the plush eating places, to truly enjoy the flavors of India, one should be adventurous enough to eat from the roadside stalls. In Mumbai the famous stalls are those that sell bhel puri, sev battata puri, paani puri, vada pav, etc.

Then there are the highway food places known as dhabas. They are actually meant for the truck drivers. However, if one is to enjoy the true flavors of the India, then visiting one of these traditional thatched restaurants is a different kind of adventure, by itself.

If you were to travel to South India then you will find a large number of India fast food restaurants. They do not have chairs and tables, but instead tall tables where people stand and quickly eat. These eating-places provide south Indian snacks like the idlis, dosas, upma, uttapa, etc., as well as the rice meals typical of that region.

India is a nation of variety. And no matter what your mood maybe, there is so much to opt from where food is concerned. There is so much of variation. For instance, there are the men going around carrying dishes of idlis, vada, dosa, with the chutney and sambar, costing Rs. 1, per piece. And the same can be eaten at a proper restaurant for a minimum of Indian Rs. 20, a plate (two idlis, chutney and sambar). So, restaurants in India are as diverse as the cultures that exist here.
