The statistics
provided where the populace of India is concerned brings to
light a frightening scenario.
While most people
are comfortably cushioned in their plush spaces in apartments
and bungalows; over 65% of India population exists below the
poverty line. Some experts estimate this to be at 75%.
Whether higher or lower, when the majority of the nation is in
the slums and on the streets; uneducated and unemployed;
diseased and rotting – then the overall health condition of the
nation is a matter of grave and immediate attention.
Sadly this is a sad picture of the actual scene on the canvas of
the Indian Sub-Continent. |
Amongst the major India population
problems are:
-Illiteracy
-Unemployment
-Disease
-Starvation
-Increasing crime rates
These are just some of the maladies that the country faces in general.
However, at the very base of the population problem is illiteracy.
Spreading awareness and educating people are the primary measures to
bring the ever-increasing population.
And with education the unemployment scenario can also be dealt with. In
the recent years, India has been witnessing a boom in the BPO industry,
which has created innumerable jobs; and continues to do so. In fact the
demand outdoes the actual supply, only because a vast majority of the
youth are illiterate. And all they need is basic degree to get a job.
According to the recent estimates provided by CIA, current India
population is estimated to be 1,129,866,154 (July 2007). By 2030, with
the rate of population growth in India estimated at 1.606%, per annum;
India’s population is anticipated to race past that of China. The
responsibility of controlling this does not lie in the hands of a few
concerned citizens, but every educated individual who understands the
dangers of such growth in population.
