geography india

Geography entails the study of any regions physical features, which includes its boundaries, natural landscape, water bodies, situation and location, weather, climate, agriculture, industry, mining, food, urban and rural areas, natural resources, pollution levels, population, etc. Like they say it is the study of every feature of a region. Similarly geography India transports one across the length and breadth of the nation, without actually making one visit the country; or then simply tempts one to visit it.

The geography of India has been a subject matter amongst the experts around the world, and this is more so because of the expanse of the nation..

It is the third largest nation that extends north and south of the equator, which means that the climatic variations are pretty much diverse.

Most of the populace would insist the India geography is such that there is so much variety and flavors here that instead of going abroad they would rather pick a destination each year and tour it completely. As they fondly say – “The world in India.” This is not just about the larger cities or destinations, so to speak, but every part of India has so much to offer to a tourist.

Every place has a geography of its own that forms an individual part of India, and yet merges into the complete ethos. As is said by various travelers of the past – ‘If one were to find heaven and earth in a single place, it would only be in India’ – the scorching sun, the icy winters, the flooding monsoons and thirsting dry zones, all are mother nature’s blueprint for India.

It would not be far from the fact to claim that the geography of ancient India differs from that of present India. This is because in eras gone by the country was known as the Indian Sub-Continent and included many more countries within her boundaries, but due to political discrepancies they all began to break away to create their own separate identities. According to the experts, India is almost half the size it was before the various countries demanded their separate identities.

Today, studying the geography and climate of India has become a necessity because of the constant change in weather patterns we are witnessing. This is mainly affecting our agricultural produce. And to be able to deal with the constant changes, we need to be prepared in advance. Immense research is constantly happening to be able to ensure that crops do not suffer and we have enough food not only feed the populace, but also export to other nations...
