Various parts of
India have been touted as heaven on earth, which very few places
around the world are also known as. This is a major feather in
the nation’s cap, which makes it a tourist’s paradise, if they
are well guided.
But, there is one
major evil that exists here and seems to have tarnished the
image of India amongst the intellectuals of the world. The
corruption in India has a sad story to tell to not only her own
people, but also the rest of the globe.
Any foreign company looking towards setting base in India, first
need to study the corruption here and learn how to deal with it. ..

And unfortunately it exists in every
department and at every level. In order to get entry into a Government
office one needs to pay the doorman an unofficial fee, to get a file
onto an officer’s desk demands another unofficial fee, and it goes on
till finally all formalities are not cleared.
There is corruption in organizations. It is known that in order to get a
job, more often than never, one has to grease someone or the other’s
palm within the organization. The first matter is how much is one ready
to pay for the job.
Though corruption is a serious problem in
India, yet it would be futile to say it does not exist anywhere in the
world. It does. It exists everywhere, however it is the magnitude that
differs. In this nation it is more like an epidemic that is causing
misery, as no one is spared.
One of the main causes of corruption has been the relatively low pay
scale. Yes, prior to the Multi-Nationals set up private companies and
paying well, all professionals have been lowly paid. And so to
compensate for their measly incomes they began taking money and favors
unofficially. And the trend continues till date, and has spread
rampantly affecting every common man.
Corruption and bribery are the two evils of society. Corruption is
watered by the bribes one pays. And people are not ready to give up
paying bribes, simply because it speeds up their work. They do not want
to waste time and effort crawling from one department to another to get
the work done. For them paying is like taking the escalator or elevator
up, rather than the steps. It is a vicious circle one is trapped in.
