Hair colors have been in vogue in one form or the other
for a very long time. Lately, with the improvement in technology
, many hair dyes have made their way into the market. So much so
that it actually becomes very difficult choosing the right one.
The names are very attractive and what they profess to do is
even more so. There may be very few women and men who have not
thought of dyeing their hair at least once.
Apart from making you feel younger, you become a lot more
confident of yourself and the best part is that the premature
gray disappears. However a note of caution needs to be added.. |
Know completely what will happen on a hair dye
application before committing yourself to it.
Some hair dye colors are temporary . These are available in the form of
rinses, shampoos and gels. They are available in vibrant shades and the
best part about them is that they can be removed with a single wash.
There are semi permanent hair dye colors which are often referred to as
glazes or stains. There are vegetable dyes which color the surface and
are good for at least 9 washes. Some chemical hair dye colors contain a
little bit of peroxide, maybe about 3 per cent, not so safe as a
vegetable dye, but sill good enough to darken those gray areas.
Permanent hair dye colors are tough on hair as they move right into the
cortex. Bleaching is done this way. So you can not only lighten hair but
also darken it by using this type of dye color. This application may
last a little longer, but a touch up may be required when the roots are
of a different color.
Caution is required with such colors as regular use could cause damage
if the hair is not otherwise nourished. Semi-permanent hair dye colors
use a developer which is creamy in nature, contains a little bit of
hydrogen peroxide and does cover gray leaving the hair shiny. Henna is
considered a permanent hair dye color because it does not wash off when
the hair is rinsed or shampooed. Sometimes it is mixed with other plant
dyes. It not only colors but also conditions.
Highlighting hair dye colors are used when small sections of hair are
dyed a couple of shades lighter than the rest of the hair.
Of course there are many ways in which you can color your hair, but
always take professional advice before doing a drastic change. Nourish
the hair well as these dyes could take their toll and cause hair loss,
or a dry scalp..
