Every age group has
different set of and likes and dislikes; be it clothing, food,
entertainment or anything. Teens don’t like to wear the type of
dresses worn by their elders as well as those younger than them.
They prefer to carve out their own identity. They want to look
different and so they have whole section dedicated to them in
the market. Teen dressing is a sort of industry of its own; with
various designers specialising in clothes for them. And the
interesting aspect is the diversity in likes and dislikes. This
is because there is a cross section of teenagers. Some are the
experimenters, who prefer setting their own fashion trends. They
do not follow the fashion rules, but instead break them to
create their own individual statement. These are also the
individualistic trends. |
Then there are the trend followers who
prefer to play it safe. In fact, they are the ones who would want what
is considered as the latest trend. They watch a lot of fashion on
television and in magazines and then set out shopping.
And yet, there is one more prevalent lot that would prefer their
mother’s or older sisters doing their shopping. They either lack the
patience or prefer to stick to being the mother’s good son or daughter.
Keeping in mind these three prevalent category of teenagers, designers
get down to working teen dresses. These include jeans, t-shirts, shirts,
cargos, etc., for both girls and boys.
For teen girls fashion there is a range of tops that they can wear on
jeans, as well as on skirts. There are various other western dresses
that are popular among the teens of India. There are also the youngsters
who prefer the traditional look and so would be seen donning the salwar
kameez, or the the churidar kameez.
For the boys, it’s the western wear all the way. And they definitely
like imitating the western rock and pop stars, as well as their young
actor-icons. No doubt, today male teenage population is more conscious
of their dressing than the previous generations. And this has increased
the scope for designers.
