With the
expansion of the Indian information technologies
industry, the Indian economy has benefited from the
creation of many new jobs. One of the popular new jobs
is in the arena of data entry work at home. There are
many reasons why this area has seen many applicants and
also why there is such tremendous scope for expansion in
this area. For one thing, doing data-entry work does not
require much experience or special educational
qualifications.
All that one needs to fit the criteria for these jobs is
usually a computer, internet access, fluency in English
and average typing and computer skills. Hence, almost
anyone can do these jobs. In addition, many companies
allow data-entry personnel to work from home or on
freelance terms. This allows employees greater
flexibility as far as work hours go and employees work
as their own boss in a sense. |
This is because employees can
work for as many hours as they like according to how much money
they want to earn. For people who prefer to work from home data
entry is an excellent work option and it is perfect for people
like homemakers, full-time-mothers or people who are already
employed with other companies but want to earn a supplementary
income as well.
Doing data entry can be extremely lucrative for people who want
to earn incomes but cannot leave their homes for other reasons
or take up full-time jobs or jobs outside their residential
premises.
Many data-entry companies offer training on the job but good
listening and typing skills are important for almost every
data-entry position available in the market. The fact that we
are currently said to be in the ‘information age’ offers
evidence enough of the relevance of accurate information, data
and facts for companies in modern times. Companies have a need
to transcribe data into readable and usable facts and
information so that they can make the best use of this.
Data is basically a bunch of numbers or characters that - if
read properly - can offer information on a variety of aspects.
This data, however, cannot be translated or understood by most
people and companies would have to employ personnel to translate
the information from this data into meaningful matter that other
employees could understand and make use of.
Since employing personnel overseas can be very expensive, many
companies from the overseas market find it cost-effective to
outsource such jobs to places like India where labor is cheap.
By hiring professionals who work from home, data-entry companies
also keep their costs of running low because they do not have
too invest in office-space and pay for other related overheads.
This means that they can afford to pay higher salaries to their
employees.
This translates into a great need for transcribed or processed
data. Data-entry jobs may involve typing, transcribing,
word-processing, market research, filling out forms and bills or
other similar work. Positions in this line that are available
for work-from-home options are usually in the area of medical,
legal or marketing matters. .
