The
broadband service of BSNL is known as BSNL Broadband.
BSNL started its broadband services in January 2005. It
first launched net services in Bangalore, Chennai,
Hyderabad and Kolkata. Soon afterwards, spreading its
services to several other cities of India, BSNL
established itself as a force to reckon with in
broadband industry. BSNL offers its high speed internet
services on copper wire infrastructure. Buoyed by its
success, other value additions such as multicasting, VPN,
video conferencing, video-on-demand, broadcast
application etc were also launched. In order to get BSNL

connection and a personal computer with 10/100 Ethernet

It offers several schemes,
keeping in mind diverse needs of customers. BSNL enjoys
commanding share in sub-urban areas and rural places. BSNL’s
bucket of net schemes includes; start up plan 250, home plans,
unlimited home plans, home combo plans (which are available for
new as well as existing customers), business plans, unlimited
business plans, 8 mbps business plans etc.
Each of these plans contains numerous other plans within. These
plans has other essential elements like, various options of
speed, night plans, download specific plans etc. Users need to
get modem for the net connections which they can either purchase
or take on rent from BSNL. Other variable charges include
security deposit and installation charges.
Using its tremendous reach in rural India on the basis of
telecom services, BSNL is planning to provide broadband Internet
access in 1.48 lakh villages in coming months. Apart from that,
BSNL has also planned to cover more cities, that is, presently
from 3,261 cities to 5,000 cities.
Being a government entity, BSNL carries the prime responsibility
of connecting all of rural India. With almost 45 percent of
