High speed
of internet was first seen in India after the
introduction of BSNL’s Dataone ADSL broadband services
in the year 2005. To the absolute delight of Indian
consumers, Dataone was able to provide not only
dependable internet connection but also the speed. BSNL
had used MPLS based ip (Internet Protocol) structure
which was able to provide high speed internet connection
up to 8mbps.
Speed has always been of paramount importance in
internet connections. With changes taking place on a
nanosecond basis and world becoming paperless,
reliability and speed of net connection has obviously
become very important. |
Most of the internet service
providers (ISPs) in India such as; BSNL broadband, Tata Indicom
broadband, MTNL broadband, Airtel Broadband, Hathway, Reliance
Broadband, Sify broadband, ZeeNext, YOU broadband, Direct to
home DTH and Digital Subscriber Line etc focus upon improving
speed.
There are several websites and tools offering services to check
the net speed. One must also remember that, most of the
advertised net speed should be taken as ‘up to’ speed and not as
exact guaranteed speed. Generally these broadband connection
analysis tools have number of dispersed testing servers spread
across different geographical locations.
These tools measure performance of one’s broadband connection by
displaying download and upload bandwidth speed. Download speed
refers to speed of data from host server to our computer whereas
upload speed signifies speed of sending data to server from our
systems.
It’s always advisable to choose the server which is known for
providing fast and consistent result. There are numerous servers
which users can use to test their broadband speed. However one
must remember to carry out these tests quite a few times to come
at a particular conclusion about his net speed because quite
often test results vary. The Speed test results are decided upon
factors like, connection speed, current network traffic on the
Server one is accessing and number of applications running on
computer.
