Where a wood stove
or other natural fireplaces do not work, the best is to use an
electric fireplace. The best part of this, is that you can use
it anywhere, put it up at a place you think best.
The positive attributes of an electric fireplace is that it
emits no harmful gasses as in the case of outdoor fireplaces.
Add a little
ambience by turning the flickering of the flames on, the heat
need not be on. Nowadays in India you get ceramic looking woods
that give you the actual natural feel. The only hiccup here is
that incase of a power cut, the fireplace falls dead and the
cold mounts. Whereas a natural fireplace would have been able to
keep going, come rain come storm.

On the other hand some people think it is an expensive affair to install
an electric fireplace. But that is not the case. Instead of installing a
central heater in a house where you only use the centre of the room, it
is a waste of money. Instead install the electric unit in a room you use
the most and switch it on. You sure are saving more money and curbing
your expenses.
Electric units are getting more and more common among home owners in
India. It is a commodity you can flaunt as it builds the ambience of
your home. Also a real fireplace is difficult to install as you have to
build in the chimney, the mantel place etc. and it has to be kept at the
right place. So a complete block in the house becomes useless. Also one
cannot keep any inflammable objects in and around the area.
On the other hand an electrical unit can be placed anywhere. These days
it comes with a ready mantel and chimney, dummy features that give it
the actual look. This unit can be placed anywhere in the house and it
does not make the neighbouring area useless. An even eager feature is
that it can be installed in a high rise, the upper floor of a duplex,
anywhere against the usual fireplace that has to be grounded to the
floor. So go ahead and enjoy some electric heat.
